***Burien’s city council passed Ordinance No. 855 on October 28, 2024 to establish a citywide minimum wage. This means:

 

  • All employers that employer 500 ore more full-time employees in King County are required to pay each an employee an hourly minimum wage of at least $4.50 over the Washington State hourly minimum wage.
  • All employers that employ 21 to 499 full-time employees in King County are required to pay each employee an hourly minimum wage of at least $3.50 over the Washington State hourly minimum wage.
  • Employers with 20 or fewer full-time employees are considered Level 3 employers and are are exempt from this ordinance.
